Ransford W. Brown
March 14, 1933 – November 2, 2017
Ransford W. O. Brown was born in Jamaica, West Indies, on March 14, 1933. He graduated from Buxton High School and pursued a career as a commissioned land surveyor with the Public Works Department in Kingston.
In his early 20s he met Lunette Joyce Orr (deceased) at Hanover Street Baptist Church in downtown Kingston. They were wed in May 1959, and their union produced 3 offspring.
In 1980 Ransford and his family migrated to the United States, and he took up residence in West Palm Beach, Florida where he worked as a Land Surveyor Part Chief and Project Engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation until his retirement. He attended and became a member of Village Baptist Church in West Palm Beach (formerly Northwood Baptist Church). There he enjoyed singing on the choir and attending Sunday School.
His wife was called home in March 1992 and he did not remarry. He enjoyed taking walks, teaching himself to play the piano, and singing with the Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches. Above all, he thoroughly enjoyed the love of his children and grandchildren.
After a brief period of health challenges, Ransford went to be with the Lord at 12:41am on November 2, 2017. He had lived 84 full, rich, and rewarding years.
His endearing memories will endure in the hearts of those who remain: his two sons Radcliffe Brown of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and Mark Brown of Lizella, GA; his daughter Jacynth Brown-Woodside of Riviera Beach, FL; his brother Constantine Brown of Jamaica; his sister Grace Brown-Barton of Mount Vernon, NY; two daughters-in-law, Andrea Brown and Nova Brown; five grandsons and three granddaughters; nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as other grieving relatives, friends and neighbors.
A Thanksgiving and Home Going Service honoring his life will be held at Christ Fellowship Chapel, 5312 Northlake Blvd, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418 on Thursday, 9 November at 11:00am. His body may be viewed from 10:00am until the hour of the remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Ransford Brown at http://bit.ly/acsransford. He will be laid to rest at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 5601 Greenwood Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
