Brown, Loretha, 93, peacefully returned to her heavenly home on the morning of January 17th, 2018. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God braced her in her end stages and comforted her in her passing (all while making sure you knew to open the windows so her spirit could exit) 🙂
Loretha, was born to the late Willie Mae Hunt in Archer, Florida on October 17, 1924. Loretha spent her early years in Florida- where she graduated high school in Jacksonville. It wasn’t until her early 20’s when she made the move up north to New Jersey. After living in New Jersey for a few years, Loretha relocated to Danbury, Ct where she would then reside for over 53 years and raise her family.
Loretha was a faithful woman of God, a woman of compassion, who built a legacy on caring for others. Throughout her years Loretha held jobs in the factory as well as in both the housekeeping and childcare fields. She had a gift for nurturing, so much so that when she made the move down to Florida at the age of 77 she continued to work at a daycare, caring for the little babies for many more years.
Loretha was blessed with a large and loving family. Not only did she successfully raise her own three children by herself, but she also was a vital part in the rearing of 4 of her grandchildren and also helped to raise 2 of her great grandchildren, Ciara and Quinten Williams.
Loretha’s faith and love of God were ever before her, always quick to pray and give an encouraging word, to say she lived an unselfish life is an understatement. She loved to laugh- always enjoying a great joke, loved her Christian programs, daily devotionals, praise and worship music and loved her shows, from game shows to sport shows. These are just a few of Loretha’s characteristics that will be dearly missed by all her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that now she is at peace with her Creator.
Loretha is survived by her three children, Edmond Brown (Maurita)(Florida), Charlee D. Brown(James) (Florida) and Duane E. Perkins (Connecticut). Her grandchildren, Darrick Williams, Taliferro Brown, Kia Williams(David), April Worle, Shaneen Heath, Ashli Giles-Perkins and Isaiah Brown, as well as 18 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, George and William Hunt and her sister Jessie Mae Hunt.
The homegoing services will be held at 10am, on February 12th, 2018, at St John Missionary Baptist Church, 900 N. Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL 33435.
Loretha will be buried alongside her family at St. Pete’s Cemetery in Archer, Florida.
on Tuesday, February 13th in Archer, Florida.
We had an Angel on Earth, now we for sure have an Angel in Heaven.
